Only the top ten in each event are awarded points.

Event 1:Car Deadlift Hold (straps)

A brutel static event to kick off the competition - going head to head.  Some super results in this blood and guts event with Martin Gallon of Donegal holding for 1min 24 secs, Nigel Troy of Tipperary 1min 26 secs, but getting first blood last years winner out on his own James Fennelly 2minutes!

Event 2:Daddy Dumbell(65kg,reps)

This explosive power event really mixed the points up, though unlike the northern heat no -one made double figures.  The best results where Eoin Shanahan and Nigel Troy both of Tipperary and both making 8reps, but just in front with a creditable 9reps in first competition  - Eoin Graham of Dublin. A fantastic win in his first ever competition.

Event 3: Truck Pull (Harness Only)

This is were things got interesting because only the top ten where awarded points due to the large numbers of competitors in the competition.  Our leaders Nigel Troy and James Fennelly didn't event manage to get in the top ten, which put some major pressure on these two warriors.  The other competitors seized their chance to score some major points like Martin Gallon from Donegal and Angelo Iannetta from Co Wexford scoring the top points.  The Southern Legend that is Daniel Troy of Tipperary showed his experience and his warhorse grit to win in a magnificent tim of 16.50 secs.  Well done to our veteran strongman.

Event 4: Silver Dollar Deadlift

This was the real test of strength in the competition for me.  A maximum lift to see who has the strongest back of them all.  It was certainly a better competition  in standards of lifting overal than the Northern competitors, in fact 2 guys did some outstanding lifts that were on their way to being world standard level.  Congratulations to The Rookie Eoin Graham from Dublin who really pushed James Fennelly from Kilkenny the 2009 Champion by lifting a magnificent deadlift of 380kg in the silver dollar but the junior deadlift record holder James Fennelly showed that he was not going to lie down after the previous event to regain this title for the second time and deadlifted 385kg for the win.

Event 5:  Stones (100 -145kg)

Fantastic performances from no less than 6 competitors completing all 5 stones, again far better than the northern heat where we only had one competitor.  Watch out you Northern lads in this years all Ireland Final, the South will rise again and look favourite to snatch this years Finn McCool Trophy.  The stones were a disaster for one of our leaders Nigel Troy putting a nail in the coffin for his campaign to win this year.  Strong stone performances from Eoin shanahan with 2.78 secs but with his third win of the contest, James Fennelly, 2009 Champion got 18.53 secs to get the win.  Well done.

Event 6:  The Wheelbarrow Skip Medley

For this final event James Fennelly had the cushion of just being in the lead for this next event but 5 other competitors still had an out shot or a good strong chance of lifting the title also, so we had a real exciting final event this year.  Martin Gallen from Donegal put the biggest effort in the final event to clinch his first ever title by almost completing the course with just 2 metres short of the line.  James Fennelly showed he was a real champion by not letting his lead go by being the only guy, both North and South of this island to complete the event carrying the wheelbarrow the whole way without dropping it, unbelieveable in a time of 1 min 23 secs.  James Fennelly from Kilkenny Republic of Ireland Strongest Man 2010 for the second, lifting the coveted King Fionn Trophy, outstanding.
