Welcome to our 11th year of successful premier events in our 3 strength sports.

 

Well done to all our competitors last year, a well done to Dave Warner, winner of Ulster’s Strongest Man for the 4th time.  Congratulations to Co Antrim, Peter Dunlop for winning Novice Ireland’s Strongest Man, we wish him well on his way back from injury after Ulster Strongest Man.

 

Well done to James Fennelly on being crowned this years Republic of Ireland’s Strongest Man.  For the first time he is the man to beat this year and a contender in the All Ireland Strongest Man.

 

In Highland Games competitions Jonathan Kelly has become 4 times champion to lift the Highland Warrior Trophy.

 

The toughest of all the sports, Arm Wrestling congratulations to Dave Warner being awarded the Irish Arm Wrestling Championship 2009.  Let’s not forget Richard McAvoy winning the Irish Open Arm Wrestling Championship at the Tall Ships, his first ever competition.

2010 Calendar

 

·        5th April – Easter Monday - Ulster Strongest Man – 11 am check in – 12 noon kick off @The McKee Clock Arena, Bangor Seafront, Co Down

      Prize money – 1st - £300, 2nd - £200, 3rd - £100

 

      The winner will also receive the Culcullen Warrior Prince Trophy, top 5 places qualify for Ireland Strongest Man.  Events for all competitions are on website.

 

·        3rd May – Monday May Day – Republic of Ireland Strongest Man – Silver Springs Moran Hotel Carpark, Tivoli, Cork – check in 11 am – kick off 12 noon

Prize money – 1st 300 Euros, 2nd – 200 Euros, 3rd – 100 Euros

 

The winner will also receive the King Fionn Trophy, top 5 places qualify for Ireland Strongest Man.  Events for all competitions are on the website.

 

·        7th May – Friday – Irish Arm Wrestling Championship 2010 – Downshire Arms Hotel, Banbridge, check in 7.30pm, kick off 8.00 pm

Prize money – 1st £250, 2nd - £125, 3rd - £75, 4th - £50

The winner will also receive the Magnus Samuelson Trophy

 

·        28th & 29th May – Friday & Saturday – Ireland Strongest Man - Isle of Man – the top 5 from Ulster’s and the top 5 from Republic’s will qualify for this event.

 

This year television coverage is planned and the Isle of Man will host the 2 day event.  Competitors ferry transport will be provided.  Departures and arrivals still to be confirmed.  The winner will receive 1st - £500, 2nd - £250, 3rd - £125.  The winner will also receive the coveted Finn McCool Trophy, top 3 will qualify for UK Strongest Man.  Further details on the site.

 

  • 5th June – Saturday – Novice Ireland Strongest Man to be held at Castletownbere, Co Cork

 

  • 7th June – Monday - Novice Highland Games Championships

  • 31st July - New Event

            Ireland 4 man team Championships 2010 to find Ireland Strongest Celtic Warrior Team. This is a new competition where we will find Ireland’s Best 4 Man Team.  The prize will be Celtic Claymore Swords each and crowned official Ireland’s Strongest Celtic Warrior Team 2010.  Events to follow on the website.  Each team wishing to enter must do so 4 weeks prior to the event date to notify me with members and team names.

 

  • 7th August – Maghera

      Series 3 Final for the Highland Warrior Trophy.  Check website Irish Strongman.com for details.

 

  • August 21st – Kings Hall, Belfast

Shorts Summer Works Festival

Provincial Team Pairs 2010.  All none UK Finalists will be selected.  Details and event will be on the website.

 

  • 28th, 29th, 30th  August

UK Strongest Man in Belfast

Ireland Strongest Man top 3 will compete for the coveted title

Television is planned

 

  • October - Ulster Arm Wrestling Championships – To be Confirmed

 

  • November – Republic Arm Wrestling Championships – To be Confirmed

 

  • December 4th – Strongest Santa Alive – Details to follow

 

All members please complete enclosed application form and return applicable fee and return by 26th March.
